Steelers vs. Raiders Predictions for NFL Week 3 on Sunday, 9/24

Week 2 of the NFL season seemed to unfortunately be filled with injuries to significant players, and both the Steelers and Raiders were no strangers to that. While it was Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb that had the gruesome knee injury against Pittsburgh, the Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was also banged up.

Similarly, Raiders star WR Davante Adams is also not quite 100%. While both players are expected to suit up, it still provides even more variables for a matchup that is already set to be one of the closest of the entire slate. So, instead of needing to stress about who’s going to win on SNF, the best bet from our Steelers vs. Raiders predictions is focused on a different betting market.

Steelers vs. Raiders NFL Picks Highlighting Under 43.5 Points

The total, or over/under, for this matchup certainly isn’t very high, but we’re still comfortable taking the under as the best bet from our Steelers vs. Raiders picks. For starters, arguably the two most disappointing RBs are featured on these teams.

Pittsburgh’s Najee Harris and Las Vegas’ Josh Jacobs are two of the few volume rushers left in the NFL, but they have underperformed. Najee rushed for just 31 yards in Week 1 and just 43 more in Week 3. Jacobs, last year’s rushing champion with 1,653 yards, had nine carries for -2 yards this past weekend.

That’s almost hard to believe, and certainly didn’t make any fantasy football managers happy. It’s also in part why the Raiders scored just 10 points, and have scored just 27 through the first two weeks. As for Pittsburgh, if Harris isn’t carrying the workload, it’s difficult to ask second-year QB Kenny Pickett to do that much heavy lifting.

Of course, that’s even more difficult with WR Diontae Johnson placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. In backup RB Anthony McFarland Jr. has landed himself on IR. The Steelers may have scored 26 points this past Monday night, but two of those touchdowns were on defense.

That means that after just seven points in Week 1, their offense has scored just one other touchdown this year. With that in mind, we’ll gladly make the best bet from our Steelers vs. Raiders predictions on under 43.5 points (-110 at DraftKings Sportsbook).
